Does my phone need to stay nearby constantly?
The band collects and stores data on its own, but the free Hume Health app (iOS and Android) is what syncs it and shows your daily insights. Your phone doesn't have to be within range at all times — the band holds several days of readings and syncs the moment your phone comes back into range.
Is it okay to wear it in water?
Yes. With an IP68 rating, the Hume Band stays dust-sealed and can handle 1 meter of water for stretches up to 2 hours. Wearing it through a shower, a swim, or a sweaty session poses zero problem.
How trustworthy are the sensor readings?
The Hume Band runs 5 LEDs alongside 4 photodiodes, sampling biometric signals more frequently than most comparable wearables, with accuracy checked through internal lab testing plus independent third-party comparisons. As with any optical wrist sensor, results shift slightly with fit, skin tone, and motion — for the most consistent data, wear it snug, roughly a finger's width above the wrist bone.
